The
Field of Bannockburn and the Bore Stone,
etching by Andrew
Geddes (1826)
From: Etchings
by Sir David Wilkie, Limner to H.M. for Scotland, and
by Andrew Geddes: With Biographical Sketches by David
Laing (Edinburgh:
Printed by R. & R. Clark, 1875)
Geddes's etching may claim to be the earliest
representation by a Scottish artist of the presumed site of
the Battle of Bannockburn (1314) and of the Bore Stone in which
Robert
the Bruce is said to have raised the Royal Standard
against the English.
