Hyder Ali, the father of Vice-Regent Tippoo Saib, assists in ensuring the safety of heroine, Menie Gray, and punishing her duplicitous fiance in The Surgeon's Daughter. This engraving was originally published in the Abbotsford Edition of the Waverley Novels (1846).
