Sir Walter Scott, engraved by Charles Burt after Sir Francis Leggatt Chantrey (1839)

Burt's engraving is taken from the marble replica of Chantrey's bust at Abbotsford and clearly owes a debt to George B. Shaw's 1839 engraving of the same sculpture. It was published in the first US edition of Donald Macleod's Life of Sir Walter Scott (New York: Scribner, 1854).
