Sir Walter Scott, engraved by Charles Heath after Sir Henry Raeburn (1820)

Heath's engraving is derived from Henry Meyer's 1818 engraving of Raeburn's 1808 portrait of Scott. It was published as the frontispiece to vol. I of The Poetical Works of Walter Scott Esq. (Edinburgh: Constable, 1820). Raeburn's original is reduced to waist-length and the outdoor setting replaced by a conventional interior.
