Sir Walter Scott, engraved by J.R. West after Thomas Phillips (1825)

From: Amédée Pichot, Voyage historique et littéraire en Angleterre et en Écosse, T. III (Paris: Ladvocat et Charles Gosselin, 1825) (facing p. 244)

West's engraving strongly resembles an earlier uncredited print published in A Cabinet of Portraits (London: William Darton, 1822). The French publishers state that the engraving is made after the 1820 bust of Scott by Sir Francis Leggatt Chantrey, but the original model is clearly the earlier portrait by Thomas Phillips.
